We have now seen pictures of the all new Hyundai i30 hatch, due for local release in the coming weeks. It promises to be an even stronger competitor to the hatch brigade – Volkwagen Golf, Ford Focus, Holden Astra and the huge selling Mazda 3 and Toyota Corolla!
The new design appears to be a case of evolution over revolution. Up front, the slinky LED headlights are wrapped around the front bumper and wing. Meanwhile, the daytime running lights are located in the front air-intakes and arranged as a vertical strip of LEDs.
The new sloping grille is a new signature for Hyundai and will be seen in future product releases.
Head to the back, the rear lights are all-LED too, while both the front and rear overhangs (the distance between the wheels and the front or back of the car) have been shortened compared to the previous model. This, according to Hyundai, helps give the new i30 a sportier appearance.
Inside, you will see big changes from the previous i30. The whole dashboard is brand-new, with an optional ‘floating’ eight-inch touchscreen sitting on top of it. Soft feel materials and new trim design patterns give the car a very upmarket feel, similar to a VW Golf.
Breaking news from Hyundai is the all new i30 Wagon, which include all the new design and new tech features of the hatch, packaged into one very stylish estate.
The new design increases over the existing model by 100mm to 4,585 in length and 15mm to 1,795mm in width, with extra proportions establishing the wagon to be one of the biggest boots in this segment, at 602 litres (1,650 litres with rear seats folded flat).
Pricing for the new Hyundai i30 hatch will not be announced until close to the car’s launch; the current model starts from $19,990. The wagon release date and pricing is yet to be advised.
