New Second-Generation VOLVO XC60 Uncovered
The all-new, second-generation Volvo XC60 has been unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, showing a definite family-car resemblance to the new XC90.
The Swedish manufacturer wants to ensure that the new SUV is more than just a scaled-down version of its flagship, the XC90, where the driver sits lower in the XC60 than its larger brother, and the muscular-looking door creases. Volvo signature ‘Thor’s Hammer’ headlights and new grille mark out the lower, sportier SUV. It has a longer bonnet than its rival the Audi Q5, and a longer roofline. Other rivals include the BMW x3, Lexus NX, and Mercedes Benz GLC.
The new model is 62mm longer, 12mm wider and 14mm lower than the outgoing XC60, and the 91mm-longer wheelbase means there’s more legroom in the rear.
Inside, the dashboard, seats and upholstery will all be familiar to XC90 owners; including the same 8.0-inch touchscreen and 12.3-inch digital dial displays feature.
As expected from Volvo, there’s plenty of cutting-edge safety kit on board, including a new standard system that can help steer away from a potential collision. Rear cross-traffic alert and a semi-autonomous driving mode called Pilot Assist will also feature.
Our model range is yet to be confirmed however we can expect on 4-cylinder engines available, as seen in the XC90. Diesel and petrol will be offered and a first for the mid SUV, a plug-in hybrid.
Pricing and release date to follow soon, family mid-sizers get excited!
