SKODA KODIAQ 7-seat SUV arrives in Australia June 2017

Skoda looks like it has a winner with its all new SUV, following the footsteps of the fantastic Superb (sedan and estate). The all new 4x4 SUV has received great reviews overseas thus expectations are huge for when it arrives here in Australia.

The stylish SUV covers all the bases by not only being comfortable, practical and good to drive, but it’s also relatively cheap to run, easy to live with and solidly built- all with a competitive starting price of $46,000 drive away!

Exterior design has been inspired by the Superb, with the front ends dual headlights made to look like crystals. The body has a very angular stance, while details like the prominent grille, clamshell bonnet and high waistline give it a true SUV presence.

The rear tailgate has a strong two fold appearance with squared-off taillights. Full LED headlights are optional on all trim levels and standard on higher-end models, they add another element of class to the Kodiaq.

Inside looks pure quality as you would expect to see in a vehicle from the VW group. Plastics are largely solid and plush throughout, while details like fabric-lined door bins and soft-touch materials help to make you forget that the Kodiaq is considerably cheaper than something like a Discovery Sport. The layout is thoughtful and intuitive, with clearly labelled buttons and touchscreen functions all where you expect them to be.

Rivals for the Kodiaq are varied, thanks to its combination of size and price. The most direct rivals we assume would be the Korean duo, Hyundai Sante Fe and Kia Sorrento, as well as Mazda CX-9, given they are all large, have seven seats and are competitively priced.

By offering a wide range of trim levels, a variety of punchy and smooth petrol and diesel engines, the Kodiaq should be on the shopping list of those after space on a budget or, further up the range, those wanting premium levels of equipment and comfort.
