JAGUAR TO JOIN THE ELECTRIC CAR CLUB WITH THE I-PACE
Jaguar is not too far away from releasing their all electric car, the I-Pace, as a production car.
First revealed to the world as a concept at last year’s Los Angeles Motor Show, the sleek compact hatch showed cues from big brother F-Pace SUV, actually sharing quite a few mechanicals.

The all new cat has a completely new electrical architecture, in which the I-Pace presented Jag’s design team with a blank canvas thanks to the absence of an engine and gearbox.

The new model is slightly smaller than the F-Pace SUV though the wheelbase is 115mm longer, thus more legroom than a BMW 7-Series!

Jaguar design director Ian Callum mentioned the design team had been looking forward to electric cars for a long time. “They give you permission to do things that you can’t do when you have an internal combustion engine. They started off with a skateboard-like platform that enabled us to bring the cab forward in spite of it being an SUV shape. The wheelbase was decided by the number and size of the batteries that we needed to fit in between the axles.”

Hopefully the new electric cat will be close to the concept we saw at the Los Angeles Motor Show, especially the futuristic dash!
