ALL NEW 2017 LAND ROVER DISCOVERY 5 IS HERE - BIGGER AND BETTER THAN EVER
With a new design and a load of features, the new 2017 Land Rover Discovery has taken the once boxy large SUV to a new height of refinement, off-roading ability and interior practicality.

The all new Discovery starts from $65,960 for the base model TD4 S and goes all the way up to the $132,160 for the First Edition (excludes on roads).
Land Rover Discovery 5, with new design to appear to a much wider audience
We were very lucky to see the new car in the flesh and the first thing we noticed was the design. Sporting a face that is very much in line with the Discovery Sport, the new Disco 5 may seem like an upsized version of its smaller sibling in photos, but wait till you see the real deal, the large SUV is huge!
With a departure from the previous ‘box shape’ and its rugged looks, the new design is meant to appeal to a much wider audience, much like the success Discovery Sport.
A less boxy design for the all new Discovery 5
Inside the new Discovery you could think you were sitting in a Range Rover. The quality of the materials, fit and finish is that of its more expensive cousin. The dash and other surfaces used and the cabin ambience are all top notch, which certainly will give the competition a run for their money – Volvo XC90 and Audi Q7 look out!

Speaking of seven seat cars, the Discovery is an actual seven-seater, not a 5+2. We sat in both the second and third rows and were completely in comfort, and I am 5ft 10. There are also five ISOFIX points so if you happen to have five kids under eight, you’ll be fine, but it also means you can place the child seats anywhere. What your kids will love most is the use of stadium-style seating, so rear passengers can better see out of the vehicle.

With the seven-seat configuration option ticked, there are a bunch of buttons in the boot that allow for full control over every seat position, which is powered and done completely automatically. Land Rover says the seats can be positioned in 21 different ways and with both the second and third row seats folded flat; there is a massive 2500L of boot space, arguably a class leader!

All models come with the brand’s InControl media screen, measuring 8.0 inches in the S and SE and 10.0 inches in the HSE, HSE Luxury and First Edition. The screen can be used for navigation, media playback, apps and even allows you to control the seat functions; which you can also achieve remotely using Land Rover’s iPhone app that can further unlock and lock the Disco or even force it to beep and flash its headlights if you lose it in a car park.
