The All New Second Generation AUDI Q5 Is Here

The second generation Audi Q5 is now available in Australia, with an all-new, slightly bigger body; although at first look it’s a little hard to spot the differences from its predecessor.

It definitely looks more angular with defined creases, like you see in the newly released siblings A4 and A5. Many times you read that a new model has matured – we would say this is the case with the new Q5.

The mid-size SUV is longer (by 34mm) and taller (by 6mm); though width is exactly the same as the first gen Q5 (The extra length has provided an additional 10 litres of luggage space).

Depending on how the optional sliding rear seats are positioned, there is between 550-610 litres of load space behind the rear seats. With all seats folded the space increases to 1550 litres.

Audi has been awarded with the a 5-star ANCAP rating and includes a wide variety of active and passive safety systems standard on all models; Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Exit Warning System – which alerts drivers of cyclists before opening the driver’s door, Cross Traffic Assist, Blind Spot warning system, and Audi pre-sense basic (belt tensioning, window closing and other preventative measures if a crash is imminent, and Audi pre-sense rear (such as flashing hazard lights to warn traffic if they are at risk of running in to the rear of the car).

If you are in the market for a mid-size luxe SUV, rival brands who have stepped up and released fresh models into this highly competitive segment include Mercedes-Benz GLC, Land Rover Discovery Sport, BMW X3, and the Lexus NX, all of which have bitten into the Q5 sales pie of recent times.
