ALL New Fifth Generation 2017 HONDA CRV - A Compact SUV Worth Considering
The CR-V is Honda’s long-running compact SUV originally launched back in 1997.
We are huge fans of the Honda’s SUV with my very first brand new car being the first Honda HR-V in 1999 and then 2002 luckily upgraded to the new second generation Honda CR-V.
Fast forward to 2017, the all new fifth generation CR-V is leaps and bounds from the original car, however one thing remains - the all-new CR-V represents brilliant value, especially for customers looking for a premium SUV feel for under $35,000.
The all-new model is due for sale in Australia in a few weeks, with it comes the curved silhouette that originated from the third gen model and has successfully matured today. It is bolder and more stylish than ever, and in true Honda fashion, it nails the brief for versatility.
Available in four models, VTi, VTi-S, VTi-L, and top end VTi-LX, five or seven seats, all are powered exclusively by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol four-cylinder (140kw of power), matching the power of the current 2.4-litre engine. Continual Variable Transmission will be standard across the range.
New standard features include keyless entry/start, Active Noise Control, dual-zone climate control, reversing camera, seven-inch infotainment display, Apple Car Play/Android Auto compatibility, Driver Attention Monitor, tyre pressure monitoring, trailer stability assist, eight-speaker audio, electric parking brake, front fog lights, LED daytime running lights, 17-inch alloy wheels and a full-size spare tyre.
Pending model selection, some cool available features include LED headlights, Auto High Beam headlights, and a power tailgate with hands-free access, panoramic sunroof, and leather-appointed upholstery for the seats, heated front seats and rain-sensing wipers. The front seats are also electrically adjustable, with the driver's seat adjustable in eight directions with position memory and the passenger's seat adjustable in four directions.
Safety is also taken care of with Blind-Spot Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Monitor (CTM), Forward Collision Warning and Pedestrian Sensing, Road Departure Mitigation with Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Adaptive Cruise Control, and Lane Keeping assist.
The all new SUV is playing in a very competitive sector with strong contenders such as the Volkswagen Tiguan, Toyota RAV-4, Ford Escape, Hyundai Tucson, and the Mazda CX-5.
Priced from $30,690 for the VTi 5 seater through to $44,290 for the VTi-LX.
