General Motors Launches All New Electric Vehicle BAOJUN E100
General Motors (GM) have launched an all-new electric micro city car in China for the masses!
Sitting under one of their subsidiary companies, Baojun, the tiny E100 two-seat, battery-powered micro-car, has very similar styling to the Mercedes-Benz Smart that we have seen here in Australia.
Retailing at under $7,000, the order book has already reached 5,000 (and growing). This seems to be a genuine affordable city car.
The car features a 7-inch touch-screen infotainment system, electric park brake, electric windows and Wi-Fi connectivity, keyless entry, a touchpad interface and air filtration system.
Don’t expect it to go too far, with a cruising range of 155km and seven-hour charging time, it is perfect for what it has been designed for, city living. Top speed is 100km/h so it can be a highway cruiser, just!
We probably won’t ever see this EV in Australia because of its basic construction and expected lack of safety features, especially as we are also yet to embrace EV’s compared to the stronger demand overseas.
