Looking at the new limousine we had to look twice to notice the changes from the previous mark 7 model. However upon closer inspection the differences become clear.

The new limousine gets a higher-set grille integrated into the surrounding bodywork, new laser headlights – which project light 600 metres down the road.

The body is curvier, looking more like its smaller sibling Ghost – a more contemporary and athletic design is on offer when compared to the previous Phantom. The new car is lighter and 30% more rigid thanks to an all-new aluminum platform.

High-polished stainless steel splashed the front grille and window frames, while larger 22-inch alloy wheels fill the arches.

Inside, the evolution over the Mark 7 design continues. There is an art deco feel with numerous new features and trims to making the new model even more opulent. Picnic tables and TV screens are hidden away and appear at the touch of a button. There’s also a new centre console that includes a drinks cabinet with whiskey glasses and decanter, champagne flutes and a coolbox.

The new dash design (called the ‘The Gallery’) features a large window pane (replacing the traditional wood from the past) housing a 12.3-inch TFT screen displaying speed, power reserve, fuel and temperature levels plus information such as sat-nav and driver assistance data. The car’s infotainment system appears and disappears at the touch of a button.

Behind the glass, owners can choose from a selection of Rolls-Royce designs or commission their own works of art as well as design the in-built clock too.

There are heated seats, armrests and different seat configurations available – but all configurations have the rear seats angled inwards to preventing occupants ‘straining their necks’
