VOLKSWAGEN REVEALS T-ROC: ALL NEW COMPACT SUV
The all-new compact Volkswagen T-Roc SUV has been revealed to the world, pitched below its bigger sibling, the Volkswagen Tiguan, and sharing the same MQB platform that began with the latest Golf.
Following several concepts, teaser images, sketches and spy pictures, the new crossover will go on sale in Australia 2019 (or hopefully 2018 – pending supply), and looks to be in direct competition with the likes of the Mazda CX-3 and the upcoming new Hyundai Kona.
The design of the T-Roc looks very different to its larger sibling Tiguan. It has a coupe-style roofline and more compact dimensions (252mm shorter and 81mm lower), with a sloping tailgate and repositioned number plate.
Front on however, it shares familiar face to the Tiguan with grille and slim headlamps almost identical, though the round LED daytime running lights are all-new for the T-Roc SUV.
Inside, VW have lifted the cabin from its latest Golf with minimal changes. The T-Roc can be ordered with Volkswagen’s latest Active Info Display, with the customisable digital dials replacing the standard analogue setup. These are complemented by a tech-filled infotainment system, with VW offering an optional eight-inch glass-encased touchscreen boasting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Inductive phone charging and a Beats sound system are also available.
Volkswagen are targeting the T-Roc to customers of every age, from young singles to empty nesters, this new car stands for a “new emotive Volkswagen style”.
