ALL NEW THIRD GENERATION 2018 PORSCHE CAYENNE SUV REVEALED
We have been waiting patiently for the 3rd generation luxury SUV from Porsche to start breaking cover, and finally it is here!
Due for an Australian debut due mid-2018, the all new Porsche Cayenne reminds us of the original silhouette from the 1st generation model first introduced 15 years ago (which catapulted the sports car maker into a whole new market).
Looking around the big SUV the first time, we were having trouble spotting the difference, move to the rear and this is where you notice clean new Panamera inspiration tailgate.
The new Cayenne is built on the MLBevo platform that underpins Audi’s new Q7 and Bentley’s big Bentayga. The platform features strong use of aluminium, cutting overall weight down to 1985kg in its standard form – compared to 2040kg for the outgoing model.
The new model measures 4918mm in length and 1983mm wide, riding on a 2895mm wheelbase. These numbers mean the third-gen Cayenne is 63mm longer overall than its predecessor and 45mm wider, without any change to the wheelbase.
Rear luggage space provides 770 litres with the rear seats up, marking a 100-litre increase in capacity. Seats-down figures have not been released, although the outgoing model claims 1780 litres.
Performance will be true Porsche. Cues were taken from the 911 in developing the new Cayenne to ensure a sporting drive. Also the Panamera saloon lends technology such as new air suspension, soaking up the road bumps.
The new Cayenne will reach Australia from the middle of 2018, pricing and local specs to be confirmed earlier in the year.
