Ab Fab Jennifer Saunders A Self-Confessed Petrolhead

Have you seen the documentary of Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley sharing their trip down the ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ memory lane whilst touring the champagne region of France in a vintage Citroen? It was hilarious and beautiful to watch these two amazing friends tell their story.

Not only did we learn about how champagne is made, we also discovered that one of the comedy duos is car crazy! Jennifer Saunders that is!

Not only is she one of Great Britain’s funniest comedians, along with her pal Joanna Lumley, she is also an actress, writer, and also a self-confessed petrol head.

She has guest-starred in pop comedy shows Roseanne and Friends, and won a People’s Choice Award for voicing the evil Fairy Godmother in Shrek 2. She has written and starred in countless TV shows, sketches for Comic Relief, and the Ab Fab movie. Jennifer also produces a semi regular radio show for London’s Radio 2 with Dawn French, another lifelong comedic partner.

Jennifer recently attended a dinner for the SMMT which is UK’s voice for the motoring industry and help celebrated their 101st Annual Dinner. Arriving in a British icon – the all-new ‘union jack’-decorated all electric London Taxi, she entertained the audience about how cars have changed in shapes and sizes over the years whilst also chatting about the future of driverless cars.

Jennifer’s car collection has included a diverse mix, ranging from Alfa Romeos and Porsches to Jaguars and Land Rovers. We were lucky enough to see how much of a petrol head Jennifer is back in 2007, when she appeared in the hugely popular ‘Top Gear’ show. Jennifer clocked up the fifth fastest-ever lap time in their reasonably ‘priced car’ during that series, showing us her amazing racing skills.

Who knew the ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ star was so into cars? We just love her even more now!

We hope to see more of Jennifer and Joanna on TV (or the big screen); we love how Eddie and Patsy always manage to put a huge smile on our faces.
