All New Toyota Corolla Global Launch at 2018 Geneva Motor Show
The all-new Toyota Auris (Corolla in Australia) was globally launched at the Geneva Motor Show.
Now with a much more mature design, it seems to have taken some inspiration from the cool small CH-R SUV and Toyota’s upcoming sports car Supra.
A notable, big change from the current model, the new hatch is 40mm longer with the extra length being added between the front and rear axles (wheels), which should increase the amount of room in the cabin. Photos show a taller car although this is not the case, it is actually 25mm lower and 30mm wider than the old car, with the front overhang being reduced by 20mm, improving the car's proportions.
Sharing the latest technology from the latest Prius and CH-R, the new hatch is all new from ground up. Toyota claims the new model will be a more rewarding drive than the current car thanks to a new sophisticated multi-link rear suspension set-up and more rigid body shell. Look out Volkswagen Golf!
New engines will include the new hybrid technology bringing Toyota into line with its Lexus luxury division - and the new Corolla will lead the way for the firm's latest hybrid tech.
Inside is yet to be seen, blacked out glass made it impossible to see however Toyota will no doubt release more images soon. Stay tuned!
