Mercedes-Benz Baby G Wagon, All New GLB, Due in 2020
Mercedes-Benz has teased the world with its next addition to their SUV collection, the all-new GLB luxury compact crossover.
Spyshots show a boxy compact SUV, almost a shrunken version of the original G-Wagen, however with a more contemporary off-roader looks. Despite the GLB’s traditional SUV two-box shape, it’s more likely to be in line with the all-new designed GLE (large) SUV.
Inside, the new Mercedes GLB will include the same twin-screen MBUX that's shared with the new G-Wagen as well as the significantly smaller A-Class hatch on which the Mercedes GLB is based on.
It is predicted the GLB will play a similar role as the B-class MPV (providing SUV seating feel), with a more practical design similar to the A-class.
Under the hood, the GLB will be powered with A-class’ turbocharged four-cylinder petrol and diesels, as well as AMG versions and a full pure-electric version.
We cannot wait to see this new baby G Wagen in the flesh; a concept version will be presented at the 2019 Shanghai Auto Show. Pricing is estimated at approximately $53,000 and to go on sale around 2020, competing with rivals –Audi Q3, BMW X1 and Jaguar E-PACE.
