2018 Range Rover 2-door Luxury SUV Coupe Revealed at Geneva Motor Show

You may not know this but the very first Range Rover ever built was 2-door! Back in 1970 when the original model was launched, it was simply known as the Range Rover – the first ‘luxury’ Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV).

Its distinct style would see the model develop into 4 doors and last for 24 years before the second generation became available in 1995.

Did you know? In the early 70s, the Musée du Louvre in Paris exhibited a Range Rover as an ‘exemplary work of industrial design’; not many car makers hold this accolade.

The Range Rover is currently in its fourth generation and remains the flagship of the brand.  The SUV now offers an even more luxury ride with the introduction of the Range Rover SV Coupe.

Paying homage to the original, the new luxury SUV coupe has just been launched at the Geneva Motor Show and looks to be a very premium offering with only 999 to be hand-built.

The coupe features frameless doors, more rakish rear C-pillar (making it look sleeker than a regular 4-door), and sits on huge 23 inch wheels.

The bespoke interiors are striking and offer a huge level of personalisation and the dash is so modern looking, similar to the new Velar’s digital screen set up.

Measuring the same length as the four-door Range Rover, there is a generous amount of legroom for rear passengers to stretch out. Also worth noting, not a single body panel is shared with the four-door.

How many will come to Australia is yet to be confirmed but expect a price tag upward of $500k, and will be playing in the Bentley Continental GT arena. Will the new SV Coupe win over the traditional luxe GT buyers? Or is this a brand new segment…we wait with anticipation.
